Photo & Video Contest Rules
WHO MAY ENTER:
Anyone at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of entry. No purchase is necessary to participate. The competition is open to amateurs. No professional photographs may be submitted. All riders of transit – buses, bicycles, vans, trains, carpools – as well as pedestrians and telecommuters are encouraged to participate. No SmartCommute Challenge staff may participate. Entry constitutes acceptance of the contest rules.

HOW TO ENTER AND WIN:
The picture must be of a scene during your commute time or of you actively participating in sustainable commuting practices. Photos should be at least 500 pixels wide and a minimum resolution of 72dpi. Videos may be in high definition with a minimum resolution of 72 dpi. The featured photos and videos will appear on Smartcommutechallenge.com. The SmartCommute Challenge staff will adjust the photo size to fit the available space. Featured pictures will be rotated on a regular basis throughout the Smart Commute Challenge. You must be the owner of the copyright in all photos entered. If you do not own the copyrights, your photos will be rejected and you will not be eligible to participate in the contest (e.g., stock photography, photos from other social media/ networking sites). Images must not have been digitally altered in any way other than adjusting levels, contrast, brightness and cropping. We may perform minor removal of imperfections.
  • To submit, please upload your photo entry via Facebook, Instagram, of Pinterest. To add the photos to facebook, join the GoTriangle Facebook Fan page and add your photo to the pool. To enter the Photo and Video challenge via Pinterest or Instagram, submit a photo into the group pool with the tags " GoTriangle, SCC 2012", also state where the photo was taken in the photo's description.
  • No limit on submissions.
  • Please include contact information on your Facebook or Instagram profile so that in the event you are a winner, judges can contact you. If there is no contact information, the judges have the right to reselect a winner.
  • Please name the photos using the follow protocol: YourName_SCC2012_TransportationMode_Location.jpg
    Be sure to add tags (SCC 2012, transit, gotriangle) and description to the upload. For example, if Joanna Doe wants to submit a photo she took of her riding her bike to work in awesome heels, she would tag her picture on Instagram or Pinterest like this: "Riding in Heels. Looking good & going smart! #SCC2012 #FashionInTransit @gotriangle."
  • All submissions should be digital and in JPEG format. Photographic slides and prints are ineligible. Photographs can be color or black & white.
  • The deadline for entries is October 15, 2012 at 11:59pm.
  • SmartCommute Challenge staff will judge and choose the winners. The judges' decision on all matters relating to the competition is final.
  • SmartCommute Challenge staff reserves the right not to award prizes if entry quality is not acceptable.
  • Judges will choose first, second, and third place winners from the daily and/or weekly photos which will be featured throughout the contest. Winners will be notified via e-mail as soon as possible after judging is completed. Prize-winning photos will be published on the SmartCommute Challenge website. The prizes to be awarded to the top three winners are still being determined at this point in time (please check back soon). First, second, and third prize photos and the name of the winners will also appear on a special Picture Yourself in a New Commute Winners page on the SmartCommute Challenge website.
  • You retain copyrights to your work but by submitting your photos you grant SmartCommuteChallenge.com and GoTriangle a non-exclusive, perpetual and unlimited license to: (1)publish your work and your name as indicated above. (2) use your work and your name in other online and printed marketing material and (3) or for any lawful purpose.
  • Although we will make every effort to notify you if you are a winner, your submission is your agreement that SmartCommute Challenge and GoTriangle may use the photo without notification or remuneration to you.
  • SmartCommute Challenge and GoTriangle reserve the right to change the contest rules without prior notification to contestants.
  • By entering this contest, a contestant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless SmartCommute Challenge and GoTriangle, its suppliers, affiliates, officers, directors, agents and employees harmless and to release them from any and all liability, damages or any cause whatsoever, however named or decided, with respect to or arising out of participation in the contest, or the receipt or use of the prize awarded.
  • SmartCommute Challenge and GoTriangle assume no responsibility in the event that a supplier does not provide a prize. However, all reasonable measures will be taken to insure that a prize is available for the winner in a timely manner. The actual prize may differ from the prize depicted.
  • SmartCommute Challenge and GoTriangle, their agents and affiliates, are not responsible for technical, internet, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind and lost or unavailable network connections, which may limit the ability to participate in this contest, or by any human error which may occur in processing entries. If for any reason, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other cause beyond the control of SmartCommute Challenge or GoTriangle, which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper concluding of the contest and the contest cannot be completed as described in the rules, SmartCommute Challenge and GoTriangle shall have the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest.


This contest is subject to all applicable municipal, state and federal laws and regulations.
